Segment 1

What are the requirements to take a segment 1 course?

In order to enroll in a segment 1 course, a teen must be AT LEAST 14 years and 8 months old on or before the the first day of class. 

What should I bring to my segment 1 class?

For a segment 1 class, you should bring a pencil and paper. All other materials are provided. 

What happens if I miss a Segment 1 class?

Attendance is mandatory.  Missed classes may be made up ONLYat the discretion of the instructor. However, a student may miss up to two days with a reasonable excuse (e.g. illness, family matter). The days must be made up at the end of the class or the next scheduled Segment 1 class immediately thereafter.

What happens if I am tardy to a Segment 1 class?

Avoid being late to class. Tardiness is disruptive to the other students and to the learning environment. Two tardies will count as one absence.

Segment 2

What happens if I am tardy to a Segment 2 class?

Avoid being late to class. Tardiness is disruptive to the other students and to the learning environment. Two tardies will count as one absence.

What are the requirements to take a segment 2 course?

In order to take a segment 2 course, you must have at least three consecutive months on their Level 1 License. This is not the certificate of completion given at the end of a successfull segment 1 course, but the license issued by the State of Michigan. You must also have driven at least 30 logged hours, including 2 hours of night driving. 

What should I bring to my segment 2 class?

You should bring your Level 1 License, issued by the state, bring your driving log showing your 30 hours of driving, including 2 hours of night driving, and bring a pencil and paper to your segment 2 class.

What happens if I miss a Segment 2 class?

Attendance is mandatory.  Missed classes may be made up ONLY at the discretion of the instructor. However, as per the contract, if a day is missed, the make-up day policy is as follows: Only in case of emergency, students will be allowed to attend the day missed in the next scheduled Segment 2 class immediately thereafter. There cannot be gaps between classes to complete the class requirements.

What is your cell phone policy?

No electroinc devices of any kind may be used during a class or in bthe car uness requested by the instructor. This includes, but is not limited to: computers, cell phones 9including text messaging), or tablets. All devices must be turned off and stored away if brought into the classroom. The instructor may request all devices be collected before the lesson.

What happens if a student is disruptive?

Attitude and maturity are an important part of this course. Any student who is found to be disruptive or disrespectful to anyone associated with the public or private school shall be dismissed by the instructor at the instructor's discretion.
